I tell my clients all the time that healing happens in the raw and unfiltered moments, the ones where we stop performing and start telling the truth. I watch it happen in my sessions every single day. Someone finally says out loud the sentence that has been wanting to be expressed, and something in them softens. That is where the healing lives, right where we finally choose to face your fears instead of running from them.
Last week, I found myself on the other side of that lesson, opening up to two major fears that have been holding me back.
The first fear showed up before I had even walked in the door. Signing up for Empire Mastery meant spending money on myself and my business, and that still is not a simple thing for me.
Then, sitting in the audience among 350 people, the second fear arrived. There was an invitation to put your hand up, and if you were chosen, you would take the microphone and share. I felt the fear rise straight away, and it surprised me. Public speaking does not usually rattle me, it is what I do for work, I am a motivational speaker. But this was different. There was no script, no time to prepare, no chance to plan a single word. That is where this fear was actually living, not in being seen, but in being unprepared.
I put my hand up anyway.
I was chosen, and I stood in front of those 350 people and shared exactly that, the fear I had just found and the choice to walk toward it instead of staying safely in my seat.
Learning to Face Your Fears
I could trace both these fears back to a traumatic time in my life, being betrayed by my ex-husband while I was pregnant. I did not see it coming, and bankruptcy followed too. For years, even spending money on the essentials could bring that same fear rushing back, and honestly, it still shows up for me now. Going anyway, and investing in myself, was already a way of leaning into that fear before the event had even begun.
Fear can do that to us. It can paralyse us completely, and if we let it, it can quietly change the entire trajectory of our life, sometimes in ways so small we never notice the door that quietly closed. I know that firsthand, in more ways than one. It takes courage to look fear in the eye, especially the kind hiding somewhere you thought you already had covered, or the kind you have been quietly managing for years without saying its name out loud.
I am so grateful that part of my work is helping other people do exactly that, so they can unlock what has been holding them back and start taking action that actually aligns with their values and their heart.
A huge thank you to Aaron Sansoni and everyone at Empire Mastery for four days of pure human growth.
If this stirred something in you, I would love to know. What is the fear you have been quietly managing, the one you might be ready to finally lean into?
With care,
