Most men come to life coaching for men the same way Chris did. Certain they don’t need it.
“My journey started on a typical male sentence,” he says in his video. “I don’t need this. I’m okay.”
But something shifted quickly. By the end of that first session, he felt something he didn’t expect. In his own words, he felt comfortable. He could express things. He wasn’t being judged, and he wasn’t needing to impress anyone. He was simply telling his story. And once he started, he wanted to come back and understand himself more.
Why I love coaching men
I understand this from the inside. If I’m honest, I thought I didn’t need coaching either. Just like Chris, part of me was sure I was fine.
And when emotion got too big for me, my go-to was to shut down. To disconnect. The overwhelm was so great that I didn’t know what I was feeling, so I felt nothing at all.
From what I’ve seen, that shutdown is something a lot of men know intimately. The feeling of not being able to feel. Of not knowing what to feel. Of believing you’re weak for even having the emotion. I know that place. So when I sit with a man who has learned to armour up, I’m not across from him. I’m beside him.
What life coaching for men actually opens up
The work isn’t about fixing anyone. It’s about creating a space safe enough that a man can finally put everything down. No performing. No holding it together. Just the truth, met with understanding.
For Chris, that safety changed how he coped through the hardest stretch of his life. He learned to carry pressure he didn’t think he could carry. He came to understand balance, that in his words, work is something we need for everyday life, but living your life is the most important part. Getting out, being healthy, being present with the people who matter.
And he learned the thing that moves me most.
Learning that it’s okay to feel
Through our work together, Chris learned that it’s okay to cry in front of his kids. To show them he’s upset. To let them see he’s a normal person with real feelings.
Somewhere along the way, so many men are taught that feeling is failing, that strength means showing nothing. But the strongest thing you can do for the people you love is let them see you’re human. Chris’s children will grow up knowing that emotion is safe, because he let himself feel it first.
You don’t have to hold it all in
If you’ve been telling yourself you’re fine, life coaching for men isn’t about weakness. It takes real courage to reach out. Chris did, and in his own words, he wholeheartedly owes that rough chapter of his life to the work we did together.
His story is shared here in a video with his blessing, in the hope it reaches someone who needs it.
If you’re ready to stop holding it all in, I would love to help.
